Connie named one of iHorror’s scariest shorts of 2017!

2017 has been a busy year for the little puppet film. Connie is still making waves, winning awards and being booked for festivals. Completed in summer 2016, we’re thrilled that the little legless, felt-mouthed madam is still trucking.

In recent news, Connie has been included in iHorror’s list of scariest horror shorts of 2017! We’re chuffed to be included in this list, especially as the film walks the fine line of horror and comedy, and we’re glad that we can make people jump and chuckle. Big thanks to iHorror!

Who doesn’t find this little face just a bit creepy…

Connie is hitting Kansas City on Monday 4th September! The little diva is headed to kick Dorothy’s butt and teach Toto a thing or two, and enjoy her Missouri premiere next week, screening at the super cool Slaughter Movie House at the Screenland Armour movie theatre. Connie will be screening with the feature film, Space Babes from Outer Space, kicking off at 7pm… and better still, it’s FREE! Check out this gorgeous event poster!

Just a couple of days later after a stroll down the yellow brick road, Connie heads to GenreBlast Film Festival 2017 for her Virginia state premiere! Connie screens with the opening feature film of the festival, Guardians, from 7pm on Thursday 7th September at the Alamo Drafthouse. You know it’s a great festival when it’s at an Alamo Drafthouse, and GenreBlast have a really cool selection of shorts and features playing, including an advance screening of IT, also on the opening night!

AND… The awesome team at GenreBlast have very kindly nominated Connie for not one, not two, but THREE awards at the festival! So the EGO HAS LANDED! It’s pretty stiff competition though, so Connie better get her boxing gloves on…

Finally, finishing off next week, Connie will be hitch-hiking her way to Utah for FilmQuest 2017, screening as part of Shorts Block 2 on Friday 8th September from 6pm. FilmQuest celebrates the majesty of genre filmmaking in the realms of fantasy, horror, sci-fi, and beyond, running until 16th September. Connie is in great company as Moranic Productions stablemate, Mina Murray’s Journal, has also been selected for the festival!

That’s a lot of mileage to cover in just nine days! It’s a US road trip for this diva freebird…

Awards, nominations and screenings – Seattle International Film Festival!

Connie continues to thrive on the festival scene, with more award wins and nominations under her tiny little felt belt (ooer!).

Connie has won an Honourable Mention Award at The International Horror Hotel 2017, and screens at the event in June in Ohio, US. Connie has had several screenings in Ohio and has either been nominated for an award or won one at each of those festivals. Big love to Ohio!

Back on home soil, Connie also took the Unrestricted View Film Festival in London by storm at the end of April, garnering nominations for Best Short, Best Director and Best Actress!

Our next UK screening is currently set for August bank holiday weekend in a city close to our director’s heart – beautiful Manchester – where she lived for six years. Yes, Connie will have her Northern UK Premiere at the incredible Starburst International Film Festival.

Official_Selection_Gold

Before she’s let loose on Manchester, Connie will be making her way to Berlin for her German Premiere next month at Final Girls Berlin Film Festival! Connie will no doubt chomp down on a bit of bratwurst before entertaining her fans. What a well travelled puppet she’s going to be!

FinalGirlsBerlinBlack

Her jet-setting doesn’t stop there, oh no! Connie has been selected as part of the prestigious Etheria World Tour 2017/18 and will screen internationally at Etheria events throughout 2017/18 at universities, art galleries, conventions, museums, independent cinemas, year-round travelling horror conventions, partner festivals, pop-up Etheria screenings, official Etheria Women in Horror Month events, and horror/sci-fi/comic conventions. Now that is BIG news – she might be coming to a town near you soon! We can hear you all running away screaming “potty mouth.”

And finally, we’re very proud that Connie is screening TONIGHT (26/05) at the Seattle International Film Festival! Being selected for an OSCAR qualifying festival is something that just couldn’t have been predicted for a small film about a very sweary, domineering puppet showgirl. It’s beyond our dreams and expectations. Connie already has Ryan Gosling and Michael Fassbender in her sights, though she’d eat them alive. So, if you’re anywhere close to Seattle, go along and enjoy.

As Connie continues to make use of her passport and cause trouble for British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, we’ll bring you more updates on her exploits, awards and screenings. More details are added regularly to our screenings page.

It’s been almost exactly a year since the film was shot. And what a year it has been, and what a year there still is to come. Chin chin!

Connie scoops Best Actress award at HorrorHound Weekend Film Festival!

Great news! Connie is now an award-winning film! We’ve bagged our first award from five nominations in just a few short months. We couldn’t be happier!

Our wonderful lead, Catrin Stewart, won Best Actress at HorrorHound Weekend Film Festival in Ohio, US! Catrin is an incredibly talented actress and played both Connie and Dolly in the film, that’s thirty four scenes all shot in just two days.

Thanks a million to HorrorHound for making us an award-winning film! Even Connie is bouncing around!

Connie nominated for Best Actress Award at HorrorHound Weekend Film Festival!

Though the team behind Connie are now hard at work on three forthcoming short films, Blood Shed, Hank: Portrait of a Serial Killer and TickTock, the little felt puppet that is Connie is still on the first leg of her film festival journey. It’s been an incredible six or seven months so far, and we’ve also had the wonderful news that Connie has not only been selected for the HorrorHound Weekend Film Festival in Ohio, US, we’re also nominated for the Best Actress award for our superb lead, Catrin Stewart!

This is wonderful recognition for Catrin’s work on the film. Catrin had to play both Connie and Dolly, often in the same scenes – not just vocally, but also ‘operating’ Connie for a large proportion of the film. This was a great mental and physical challenge, and one that Catrin pulled off with aplomb. She’s a tremendous talent and if anyone deserves recognition for the final product, it’s her.

HorrorHound is a great convention and film festival all in one, taking place 17th-19th March in Cincinnati. It’s CRAMMED to the ceiling with special guests, including Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chandler Riggs, Tobin Bell, John Waters, Lloyd Kaufman… Team Connie is devastated to not be able to attend! But, you lucky people can get tickets HERE.

Connie is screening as part of the Late Night Laughs slot on the Saturday night (or technically early Sunday AM), before Space Babes from Outer Space. Check out their cute schedule! Congratulations to Jamie Hooper – a friend of Team Connie – whose short Unto Death, which is a real must-see, has also been selected for the Sunday.

Congratulations to all the HorrorHound nominees. It’s very stiff competition. This is our fifth award nomination. We’re currently also nominated for the iHorror Award for Best Short Film, which is announced at the end of the month, so March is shaping up to be super, smashing, great.

Connie nominated for an iHorror award!

2017 is shaping up to be quite a year for Connie. We’ve just had the news that the film is nominated for an iHorror award! The awards recognise excellence, hard work and determination in the horror genre.

The much coveted statue is poured from solid metal from the RS Owens company, whose clients include the Oscars and the Emmys, no less!

Previous iHorror award winners include It Follows, Ash vs Evil Dead, Creep, Insidious Chapter 3, Bruce Campbell, Mark Duplass and Melissa McBride! So we’re thrilled to be nominated!

There’ll be more details to follow soon, but the whole team behind Connie is keeping all fingers, toes and other appendages crossed. It’s our fourth award nomination in just a few short months, and Connie would kill for a win. She needs some bling in her life.

A massive thanks to the iHorror team, judges and iHorror readers. We’re delighted!

Fantastic SciFiNow Review & Interview!

There’s more love for Connie! The kind folk at SciFiNow have written a very complimentary article about the short film, with a lovely opening review followed by an interview with writer/director, Cat Davies. If you want to read more about the challenges of making short films, this is a must-read! It’s a very insightful piece detailing the production of this film, the writing process, fondness for the Duplass brothers and the tough choice of Hugo or Chucky.

“Funny, creepy, clever and surprisingly affecting, Connie is a wonderful tribute to creepy doll classics while managing to be something all of its own” – SciFiNow

Big thank you to Jonathan Hatfull and SciFiNow. We’re pleased to make films that you like! Long may this continue.
